HB 221

Reserve police officers are volunteers who work with law enforcement agencies. House Bill 221 will allow reserve police officers to act as regular police officers when they are on duty working with an agency (not off duty). In my legislation reserve police officers must complete 500 hours of law enforcement training before they are allowed to work with an agency. Generally this training is about nine months in length. While working their regular job they attend evening and weekend training classes. Last night HB 221 passed the House on a 64 to 0 vote.
