Last night House Judiciary Committee passed my House Bill 10. House Speaker, Ken Martinez (D) Gallup, I introduced HB 10 to address the confusion in our State firearm statute which currently allows convicted felons whose conviction is more than 10 years old to possess a firearm. Under Federal law, a felon cannot possess a firearm for life -- unless they receive a Federal pardon. This legislation will make New Mexico compliant with Federal law.
