House Bill 117 just passed the House. This legislation expands the statute of limitation for second degree murder. Ellen Snyder killed her husband and buried him under the garage foundation. The crime was discovered about 10 yrs later, after the statute of limitations had run for second degree murder. Ms. Snyder plead to second degree murder to avoid a first degree conviction. Has this case gone to trial and the jury convicted her of second degree murder she would have walked out of the courthouse a free person. Today she is in NM prison.
